100's DAY at Buffalo Point Elementary!

So, Isaac celebrated his 100th day of school on Wednesday of this last week! His teacher challenged them to dress up like they think they would look at 100 years of age. We had fun dousing his hair with corn starch and tracing light wrinkles with my eyeliner. Dad was able to find his old glasses and removed the lenses so he would have glasses to wear. They had to be much to big for his face of course...he wore elastic pants with a button up vest over a t-shirt, covered by the flannel button down shirt. He was excited but once the eyeliner had been applied he lost all of his excitement! He went upstairs and came back down and said" I really don' t like the wrinkles Mom." I made him keep them and he was alright after he found that many of his friends looked as ridiculous as he did. His teacher said that they all had a lot of fun. I can't believe that my boy has been in school for that long already. This year I will have two in school and it is a bit overwhelming for me! They just grow up way too fast....This is why I cherish these moments and have to share them with those I love.

Gage belt tested today with his Sensei. He did  a great job and even provided a little entertainment!!! He moved from his yellow belt to his orange belt today and it was so much fun.   My favorite part of the whole thing was when Gage was finished and ready to leave. He was wearing his new orange belt around his waist and his yellow belt was tied and placed upon his head....for some reason the knot in the yellow belt made him look like a turkey! Anyway, his Sensei was saying goodbye to another student and he ran up to him and said " Sensei Jeff.....I know that Crane Kick!!!!" He then proceeded to give his rendition of the crane kick as he knows it. You see, we watched the Karate Kid as a family the other night and the very last fight was won with the Crane Kick and he has been obsessed with it ever since. His Sensei was so entertained and happy it made us all laugh!!! Way to go, Gage.....we are proud of you:)
You may need to turn the music off at the bottom of the blog so you can hear the interaction between Gage and his Sensei!

Draper Temple Open House

Saturday we had a rare and awesome opportunity of attending the open house for the Draper, Utah LDS Temple!!! Growing up outside of Utah, and how it is for the majority of the members of the church, I never had the opportunity to attend a temple open house. Being here in this state where there are a few temples being built every decade or so is a unique blessing and opportunity. When the Draper Temple was announced I wanted nothing more than to be able to take our boys to the open house and let them see with their own eyes and feel with their hearts the amazing blessings of what the temples bring. We got tickets on the first day that reservations were being made and have been teaching and discussing temples and the blessings of temples in preparation for taking the boys to the open house. It was a neat thing to be able to reinforce the Lord's teachings and the importance of temples. Isaac is definitely at an age that he will remember quite a bit of that day. He still talks about how he felt the spirit while he was there and it made him feel good. Gage will remember a bit, I suppose. Bridger is still very young but we still took him and we can talk about the day that we went and how we felt and who knows? Maybe in another 5-10 years there will be another temple built here and we will be able to take them all again.  We had a wonderful time as a family and with Grandma and Grandpa Whitesides. All Bridger needed was the constant distraction of gum that kept appearing out of Grandma's purse and he was perfectly happy and content!!! He must be my child. I have no idea how much gum he swallowed but I figure it all comes out in the end anyway.....lol:)

Gage's Best Friend...

So Gage is my child who is just absolutely, positively a charmer! I mean really, watch out world because here he comes and he is the sweetest boy in the world. Never a day goes by that he doesn't tell me how beautiful I am or how much he loves me. The thing about it is he always knows when I need it the most!!! He is very caring and sensitive and I absolutely adore him. His best friend lives next door and her name is Tessa. Tessa's birthday was last week and she turned four...they are about 10 mos apart in age....All day he kept reminding me that it was her birthday and he needed to make her a card. Well, the day past in such a hurry that he didn;t have time to make her a card. I had to go and pick up diapers at the store before bed time and he really wanted to go with me. We were in Walmart and just about finished up when he spotted the fresh flowers. He ran over to them and with such pure and sweet joy said " MOM! This  is what I need to get Tessa for her Birthday!!! We need to get her the pink ones and I think that she will love them....."
So, we got Tessa flowers and a small package of tiny cupcakes. It was family home evening and we had just made home-made ice cream. When we got home we packaged up enough ice cream for Tessa and her family and then Gage took her the flowers. She was excited and it made him feel good about giving to someone else. Tessa has three older sisters and they were floored when they saw the flowers....it was cute!!! So here is to my thoughtful, charming and sweet boy Gage!

Isaac's First Lost Tooth...actually, the first four!

Here is poor little Isaac at the dentists office. He is preparing to have his first loose tooth pulled! The adult tooth was growing in behind the baby tooth and so the baby tooth was very painful and wasn't getting pushed out. To mom's surprise however, his first two baby teeth on the bottom were both loose and there was barely any room for one adult tooth to make its way through if the dentist pulled the two teeth that were loose...so, the dentist pulled all four of the baby teeth on the bottom to make room for the two adult teeth that were ready to take up their residence. Isaac got to watch Finding Nemo on the special movie glasses and got a little silly with all the nitrous that they were giving him. It was a bit rough on the poor guy but he did really well and couldn't be more anxious to place not only one tooth under his pillow but all four teeth! I tell you what....I think that Tooth Fairy took pity on the poor child because he awoke to 8 whole dollars underneath his pillow!!! Hopefully for the Tooth Fairy, he won't lose any more any time too soon......lol:)

Cast is Off!!!

So Bridger had his cast removed two weeks ago today and it has been such a life changing event for him and for us!!! He is so much happier and with each passing day his leg is getting stronger...for quite a while he was walking with his foot pointed out to the extreme and he wouldn't put much weight on it but now it is almost as if it had never happened!!! Aren't kids amazing? Charles handed him the cast after it was taken off and Bridger just chucked it on the floor. Dad picked it up again and we convinced him to throw it in the garbage! He couldn't have been happier....he waved goodbye to the cast and was making every effort to leave the room as fast as he possibly could! Yeah, for Bridger and for Dad....his guilt has been lessened without the constant reminder of the cast.
